A Bit About Me
Lauren is a sustainable fashion advocate and content creator. A Fashion Promotion graduate with experience working in social media management. Passionate about sustainability, fashion history and culture.
Throughout my life I have been fascinated by fashion; when I was younger I had dreams of being a fashion designer and would spend hours drawing hundreds of outfits I wished I could bring to life. I studied Fashion Design for two years at Shrewsbury College, where I learned how to make my designs a reality. After college, I studied Fashion Promotion at university where I explored creative direction, styling and fashion photography, discovering a passion for storytelling through clothing and the cultural significance of fashion history. It was during this time I became aware of the impact the fashion industry has on our planet and people, and I became resolved to create positive change within the industry.
Sustainability is incredibly important to me, which is why I am an ambassador for the UK’s Sustainable Fashion Week, held annually in September. I am proud to assist in them in their mission to up-skill, inspire and empower the community, and use my platform to encourage people to care for their clothes by repairing, refashioning and rewearing. Having undertaken Fashion Revolution’s online course on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, I have a clear understanding of how they fit into the future of the creative industry.
Even though I no longer study design, I still enjoy sewing and creating my own clothes. I love vintage clothing and I'm often inspired by old films and photographs. I've lost count of the number of books I've read about fashion and the history surrounding it. I love that each item of clothing holds its own story and can mean so much to one person.
